VERSACE SIGNATURES

it's nice to receive gifts, regardless of what they are. however, when you receive a gift that represents you to a tee, it shows how much your friends really care & how well they genuinely know you. today i received one of those gifts. the most incredible (belated) birthday presents from two of my good friends - a gianni versace coffee table book, which was sourced from a second-hand book store & was legitimate vintage in itself - published in the early 90s! anyone that knows me well or follows the blog & my instagram will know my love for vintage designer pieces (especially gianni versace.) the book is in perfect condition & takes a detailed tour through the signature collections gianni created - including some rare designs he had created for theatrical production. i'm in love & inspired all over again. i have wonderful friends, just as wonderful as this book.

my obsession for designer vintage will never cease. the outrageous, random prints of the 80s & 90s will always steal my heart - so what better way to indulge in obnoxiously loud pieces than investing in the godfather of it all, gianni versace. his creativity will always live on in my wardrobe. this is the newest addition to my collection: a matching, two-piece combo covered entirely in highly detailed ladybugs.

SHINE BRIGHT

i can definitely say i was happy to be woken up at 8AM this morning by the postman to find my purchases waiting for me in all their glory within a giant cardboard asos branded box. i had a birthday discount code from the online store e-mailed to me last week & i felt like it would be wasted if i didn't use it. the shoes are super comfortable & the earrings, are huge, statement jewels. with incredible accessories like these, i would have purchased these with or without a discount!

SLR LIFE

apologies for my lack of posting, i've been away just relaxing & playing with my brand new SLR camera (nikon d3100!) which was one of the presents i got for my birthday last week. i'm pretty excited about it, as i can finally start working on putting up my own photos in high-quality. there's been a lot of dumb test shots, taking photos of virtually anything & everything (fruit bowls, rubbish lying around, the sleeping boyfriend, you name it) but i plan to keep practicing & hopefully you all will start to see some great content in the near future. here's a shot i took earlier today, of my black milk holographic leggings which i just cut into bike shorts this afternoon.

CHUNKY WHITES

the thing that caught my eye from marques' almeida's SS '12 collection (aside from that awesome, heavily ripped denim) was the all-white, super clean, chunky footwear that adorned each model's feet as their strutted along the runway drenched in distressed denim. of course, the footwear was stocked on opening ceremony & shortly after, sold out - which meant for people like myself/the masses, had to devise a plan to get those shoes (or at least something similar) on our feet. i warmed to the abundance of korean fashion websites & stumbled across these babies. sure they are half a size too small & made very poorly & in no comparison to the MA shoes BUT, they are good...for now. i can't wait to channel my version of MA & team these up with my oversized, ripped one teaspoon jeans. such a great summer combo.

discovered a mixtape this week by a guy by the name of rockie fresh. part of the maybach music label, he's got some heavy-hitting artists backing up throughout the mixtape - including a production by my favourite dj/producer extraordinaire,  LUNICE. if you're into bass-heavy, rick ross-esque beats, then cop the mixtape for free from here.

uber-cool sydney brand evil twin has done it again with their latest winter collection titled, 'i want to believe' which takes you on a paranormal journey where the world has lost all humanity. featuring galaxy-themed pieces amongst some amazingly distressed denim, bright coloured velvet, digital printed tunics & what they do best - studs & black, the collection is edgy & there are awesome stand-out pieces to add a KAPOW! to any wardrobe.

after seeing the range i'm really digging the holographic leggings & muscle top, the baggy, distressed boyfriend jeans & the super cute baby pink skater dress.

STYLE CRUSH: JULIA SARR-JAMOIS

for the past few months i've noticed this striking beauty being snapped & appearing on street style photography blogs & had to find out just who she was. editor of wonderland magazine, julia sarr-jamois is creating ripples in the fashion world with her trademark 'fro & airmax-with-everything approach. (while everyone was on the free run train, i was on the airmax bus too!) so it's nice to see JSJ showing the max some love. such an effortless style & i love her slightly boyish take on feminine trends (bottom right photo.)
